Job Vacancy For General Manager, Technical Operations

- Responsible for providing strategic and policy issues relating to the technical departments for operational leadership for the company in collaboration with he Managing Director and senior management team
- Responsible for the day-to-day general administration of the office
- Be the company insurance expert, direct and guide businesses in technical matters
- Act as the company's main adviser on all issues relating to operational functions and keep abreast of the latest developments to ensure the company maintains its competitive urge
- Lead insurance strategy and product feature design for the company
- Manage the operational teams including claims, underwriting, IT, Sales and Marketing and other services, to ensure delivery of operations related targets across all sub-functions with efficiency, productivity and accuracy
- Manage the external relationships with service providers including reinsurers brokers & agents, claim handlers and loss adjusters
- Maintain the company's insurance programmes, risk framework, claims process and provide advice and guidance to the busienss
- Perform various gap analyses to establish reinsurance arrangements and execute strategies that will lead to a robust risk framework
- Be responsible for the claims process and drive improvements to the process by providing claims advice and guidance to the busiensses
- Evaluate and have oversight responsibility for the actuarial function within the company
- Guide product strategy and roadmap with knowledge of the insurance industry, regulatory hurdles and insurance operational challenges
- Define and deploy risk mitigation processes and continually review the company's risk profile to ensure the re-insurance programmes are fit for purpose
- Supervise and appraise the performance of immediate subordinates through the company's performance management system
- Perform any other tasks/duties that may be assigned by the Managing Director
- A good first Degree preferably in insurance or Actuarial Science or a related field from a reputable university
- A Master's Degree in a relevant field would be an added advantage
- A chartered insurer - ACII/FCII qualification
- Must have a minimum of 12 years post-qualification relevant work experience in an insurance company
- Must have been on the managerial grade for a minimum of 10 years, 8 of which must be as Head of an Underwriting Department / Area/ Branch Office
- Must be on the grade of at least Senior Manager at the time of application
- Proven record of accomplishment in achieving consistently safisfactory performance levels in previously managed operations
- Credibility with the insurance markets through relationships and networking
- Demonstrate exceptional leadership skills
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Significant managerial experience
- Excellent decision-making skills
- Must have a rich blend of analytical, creative and strategic talents
- A strong knowledge of insurance markets, products, services, ratings and underwriting procedures
- Thorough knowledge with in-depth understanding of all aspects of the company's products and processes
- Proficient in Microsoft office suite or related insurance software
