The department oversees budgeting, financial reporting, treasury and cash management, payroll, procurement support, and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Working closely with academic and administrative units, the Finance Department enables informed decision-making and supports Ashesi’s mission through efficient financial planning, control, and stewardship.About the Role:To support the Director of Finance in creating, developing and maintaining financial models and budgets for the Finance Department. To assist the Director of Finance in providing financial data and analysis required for management decision-support, and reporting. The Finance Department is seeking an experienced Financial Analyst with strong financial modelling and analytical skills to improve and maintain its budget and forecasting models to forecast the overall financial impact of the University's Revenue, operating and capital expenditure, and asset management programme.Role reports to: Director of FinanceDuties and ResponsibilitiesBudgeting & Financial Planning
  • Collate and consolidate annual departmental and Center budget submissions across the University.
  • Analyze the financial impact of capital expenditure (CapEx), revenue-generating projects, and other initiatives.
  • Evaluate the short-term and long-term impact of funding decisions on cash flow and liquidity.
Financial Modelling & Scenario Analysis
  • Design, build, and maintain financial models to support institutional decision-making.
  • Gather and validate financial data inputs by working closely with internal stakeholders and department heads.
  • Conduct scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to assess risks and opportunities in the University's strategic plan.
  • Ensure all financial models adhere to "best practice" modeling standards (clear structure, integrity checks, and documentation).
Performance Reporting & Analysis
  • Support the Director of Finance in prepare quarterly financial reports including trend analysis, variance reports, and key drivers of over/under-spends.
  • Support the Director of Finance in preparing budget reforecasts and high-level presentations for the Finance Committee.
  • Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) relevant to the University’s financial health.
Technical Support & Process Improvement
  • Serve as the department’s subject matter expert (SME) in MicroSoft Excel, providing technical support and training to the wider finance team.
  • Automate repetitive data tasks using Microsoft Office applications to improve reporting efficiency and accuracy.
Ad-hoc Projects
  • Perform appraisals for new University initiative using advanced finance techniques.
  • Undertake any other financial tasks as requested by the Director of Finance to support the University’s strategic objectives.

Required Skills and ExperienceEducation:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Part or full professional qualification in Accounting, Finance or Investment is highly desirable.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a relevant field, with demonstrated proficiency in financial analysis and modelling techniques/tools.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Excel formulas and functions.
