The library is not only a place for study, but also supports collaborative work, equipped with resources and services that enhance the teaching and learning experience at Ashesi.About the RoleManagement of Ashesi’s Library and Information Services, including financial, physical, electronic and human resources, to the satisfaction of the Ashesi community,Role Reports to ProvostDuties and responsibilities
  • Management and promotion of electronic collections, including monitoring of usage and procurement
  • Management and promotion of physical collections, including analysis of stock, procurement, and monitoring of usage
  • Promotion of information, data, and AI literacy among the academic community of students, faculty, and staff – especially in relation to library and information services
  • Support for research and publication – for students (both postgraduate and undergraduate), academics, and others involved in research
  • Management of library staff, and work-study students, including performance management, to ensure the smooth running of the library
  • Monitoring and evaluation of Library and Information Services
  • Manage and monitor library finances, including setting budget priorities, allocation of funds, and monitoring expenditure
  • Represent the LIS within a wider national and international information world to ensure a high profile externally
  • Maintain and develop professional knowledge and skills
  • Conduct and publish research related to information science/librarianship
Qualifications, Competencies, Knowledge & Skills:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in information studies or a related field of study.
  • At least 6 to 7 years of relevant working experience with at least 2 years’ experience in a library, preferably at a managerial level.
  • At least five (5) professional publications.
  • Experience in managing teams within a library/information setting, as well as setting and implementing strategies for operation and development
  • Excellent oral and good written communication skills
  • Excellent inter-personal and customer care skills
  • Familiarity with electronic databases and other web-based services
