Our team develops content that spans the University’s website, social media, admissions materials, press engagement, among others, and works closely with the Ashesi Foundation on fundraising and advancement communications.We are seeking a versatile and creative Senior Multimedia Officer to join our team. This role requires a keen sense for strong storytelling and the ability to bring ideas to life through multimedia. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-moving university environment, is comfortable navigating new challenges, and enjoys working collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders to develop engaging content.Role Summary:The University Communications Office plays a central role in telling Ashesi’s story: shaping how the university’s work is understood by prospective students, alumni, partners, donors, and the wider public. The Office also works very closely with the Ashesi University Foundation on fundraising and advancement.The Senior Multimedia Officer will be a core contributor to this work. This role is responsible for producing high-quality photography and video that brings Ashesi’s people, ideas, and impact to life across digital, print, and campaign platforms. The role combines strong technical execution with editorial judgment, curiosity, and storytelling instinct.The Senior Multimedia Officer will work closely with colleagues across the University and be part of a growing global communications team helping amplify Ashesi’s work in Africa and internationally.At Ashesi, multimedia storytelling supports student recruitment, advancing fundraising and partnerships, strengthening alumni engagement, and amplifying the University’s leadership voice. In this role you will:

The successful candidate will demonstrate mastery of the full production lifecycle, from cinematography and sound to editing and color grading, and oversee other team members engaged in such work. You will also steward the University’s professional multimedia equipment, ensuring appropriate standards in capture, workflow, and final output across platforms.Role Reports to: Director of University CommunicationsKey ResponsibilitiesMultimedia Storytelling & Production
  • Lead the creation of compelling video and photography for use across Ashesi’s website, social media channels, admissions materials, fundraising and advancement communications, and institutional publications.
  • Independently plan, shoot, edit, and deliver multimedia content across multiple formats, ensuring high production quality and strong narrative clarity.
  • Proactively identify story opportunities that reflect Ashesi’s students, faculty, alumni, research, and broader institutional impact.
Editorial
  • Shape visual stories to suit different platforms and audiences, adapting content for web, social, and other distribution channels while maintaining consistency with Ashesi’s visual identity.
  • Collaborate with writers, designers, and communications colleagues to ensure multimedia work strengthens overall storytelling and campaign objectives.
Brand Stewardship
  • Work with communications teams in units across the University to guide multimedia approaches, support quality standards, and promote visual consistency.
  • Serve as a trusted creative partner to colleagues seeking to communicate their work through visual media.
  • Provide creative guidance and informal mentorship to junior creatives, interns, or collaborators as needed.
Asset Management
  • Grow and maintain a well-organized, high-quality library of photography, video, and audio assets for use across the University.
  • Contribute to systems and processes that improve access to and reuse of multimedia assets over time.
Role requirements:
  • Strong, demonstrable skills in photography and video production across a range of formats and platforms.
  • Experience leading complex multimedia projects or campaigns, with a high degree of creative and editorial responsibility.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard creative tools, particularly Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience working collaboratively across teams.
  • Curiosity about Ashesi’s mission and audiences, with a willingness to learn and engage deeply with the University’s work.
