- To develop and lead strategy and drive sales for profitability
- Drive the entire sales and marketing department
- Generate sales leads and assign follow-up duties to other sales officers
- Lead a team of sales and marketing executives to ensure a continuous flow of sales orders from various clients
- Listen to customer requirements and present appropriately to make a sale
- Maintain and develop relationships with existing customers in person and via telephone calls and emails
- Arrange meetings with potential customers to prospect for new business
- Act as a contact between the company and its existing and potential markets
- Negotiate the terms of an agreement and closing sales
- Gather market and customer information
- Represent the company at trade exhibitions, events and demonstrations
- Advise on forthcoming product developments and discuss special promotions
- Liaise with the production unit to check the progress of existing orders
- Record sales, order information and send copies to the sale office or entering figures into a computer system
- Send daily, weekly and monthly reports to management
- Review sales performance, aiming to meet or exceed targets
- Gain a clear understanding of customers businesses and requirements
- Make accurate, rapid cost calculations and provide customers with quotations
- Feed future buying trends back to the employer
- Attend team/group meetings and share best practices with colleagues
- A good first degree in marketing plus professional membership ie CIMG
- MBA in Sales & Marketing / Project Management would be an added advantage
- 8 years of post qualification and industrial experience with 3 years in a senior sales/marketing (in the sale of heavy-duty equipment/automobile) role with proven results
- In-depth knowledge in the heavy equipment and industrial equipment market
- Considerable knowledge/understanding of market segmentation, value propositions and customer profiles
- Excellent knowledge of marketing and branding activities
- Good managerial, coaching and interpersonal skills in a "team" setting
