Job DescriptionResponsibilities and DutiesThe Finance Officer as the Chief Accounting Officer of the University and the Chief Financial Advisor to the Vice Chancellor:
  • Has the general responsibility for the administration of the financial affairs of the University that will ensure its financial affairs of the University that will ensure its financial well-being and will exercise direct supervision of all accounting officers
  • Is responsible for collecting University's legitimate revenue
  • Exercise control over expenditure in line with the University's objectives and budget
  • Prepares the annual budget of the University for presentation to the appropriate governing body for approval and implementation
  • Liaises with the University's appointed external auditors to get the University's financial statements audited
  • Ensures that the financial statements of the University are aligned with the statutes
  • Ensures that financial and th accounting records are maintained in compliance with the General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Performs other functions as it may be given by the Vice Chancellor and the council chairman.
Qualification Required & Experience
  • Applicants must possess a good master's degree in Finance/Accounting (CA(Gh), ACCA, CIMA, CPA)
  • Applicants must have served as a Deputy Finance Officer in a University of served as a Deputy Finance Officer in a University or cognate organisation for at least 4 years.
In addition, the applicant must:
  • Be a good team leader
  • Be analytical, critical, result-oriented, innovative and visionary
  • Must have strong IT skills and familiarity with accounting software
  • Must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Possess excellent supervisory skills and strong communication skills
  • Demonstrate commitment to integrity and right practices
