- Create and update comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures tailored to the construction industry.
- Ensure that all policies align with the local (Newmont) and state regulations.
- Conduct regular safety training sessions for employees, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- Stay current on industry best practices and communicate relevant information to the team.
- Conduct regular risk assessments on sites and implement measures to mitigate identified risks.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, providing detailed reports and recommendations for prevention.
- Stay informed about changes in health and safety legislation and regulations.
- Ensure the company's compliance with all relevant safety standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of sites to identify hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Collaborate with project lead to address safety concerns promptly.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures and first aid protocols.
- Conduct regular drills to test the effectiveness of emergency plans.
- Foster a strong safety culture by promoting awareness and accountability at all levels of the organization.
- Encourage reporting of safety concerns and near misses.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of safety-related activities, including training, inspections, and incidents.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on health and safety performance to management.
- Candidate must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a Health and Safety role within the construction or mining industry.
- Must be a Mincom Certified Senior Safety Officer.
- Knowledge of local and state mining safety regulations.
- Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, or equivalent are preferred.
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and deliver effective safety training programs.
- Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Must possess a Valid Driver's LicenseC and above with five (5) years' experience in manual vehicle driving.
- Time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Adaptability to a dynamic and changing business environment.
- Team player with the ability to collaborate across departments.
