Position SummaryWe are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and motivated Planning Forester to lead spatial and operational planning for our bamboo-based carbon removal projects in Ghana. This role is critical to ensuring successful land-use design, reforestation planning, and integration of field-level activities with Annual Operation Plans (AOP).The ideal candidate will have strong forest management and GIS skills, be passionate about climate and landscape restoration.Key Responsibilities
  • Compartments Planning C Spatial Analysis
  • Lead site assessments and land-use suitability analyses to determine plantable areas in various compartments.
  • Develop and maintain compartment register on an ongoing basis.
  • Develop and maintain dashboard with field activity datasets on an ongoing basis
  • Collaborate with field teams to integrate ground-truthing data into spatial planning workflows.

  • Carbon Projects and Operational Planning
  • Contribute to baseline assessments, and biomass carbon stock estimations by undertaking biomass monitoring.
  • Maintaining the already establish permanent sample plots (PSPs) for biomass monitoring.
  • Deliver weekly operational data to the senior management team.
  • Ensure adherence to SOPs and correct methods for all field and nursery activities.
  • Field C Nursery Monitoring and Quality Control
  • Conduct weekly quality control checks in the field and nursery.
  • Lead weekly reporting of nursery and field data, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Discuss monitoring results and solutions with field and nursery teams to improve performance.
  • Monitoring, Reporting C Verification (MRV)
  • Support the implementation of MRV frameworks and protocols in Ghana.
  • Ensure field data integrity.
  • Support implementation of compliance audits
Required Skills or ExperienceRequired Qualifications s Experience
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in forestry, Agriculture, Environmental Studies, or Natural Resource Management.
  • Proven experience using GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS, ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey 123, ArcGIS Quick Capture).
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in a relevant role, ideally with exposure to:
  • Reforestation or agroforestry projects.
  • Carbon removal or nature-based solutions.
  • Spatial planning and land-use design.
  • Familiarity with carbon project standards and methodologies is a strong asset.
