To check that all rigging is done in accordance with all established safety protocols and conduct basic maintenance of rigging gears to maximize operational effectivenessAs Part Of Our Team You WillCrane RiggingSafety of lifting operations: that is to ensure all lifts are carried out safely and in compliance with site rules and regulations.
Correct equipment selection, use rigging gears with the correct WLL\SWL suitable for the load and lift methods.
Load stability and balance, identify the load weight and center of gravity to prevent tipping or uncontrolled movements.
Proper rigging techniques: apply correct hitches, angles, and connections to avoid overloading equipment.
Communication and signaling, ensure good clear communication with the crane operator using standard hand signal or radios.
Compliance with lift plan, follow approved lift plan, permits and procedures especially for critical lifts.
Control of suspended loads using tagline and safe positioning to control swing loads and rotation.
Hazard identification being able to identify risks such as overhead obstructions, weather condition, drop zones and personnel exposure.
Equipment care and reporting, maintain, store, and report defective rigging equipment promptly.Maintenance and RepairDaily visual inspection by checking sling, shackles, hooks , wire ropes, chains, and lifting beams for wear, cracks, corrosion, deformation, or broken strands before use.
Cleaning of rigging gears, removing dirt, grease chemicals , mud that can course damage or weaken the rigging gear.
Minor repairs within authorization, carried out approved minor repairs only (e.g., replacing tags, shackles pin, protecting sleeve).
Removal of defective equipment or quarantine, tag “ DO NOT USE”, and report damage d rigging gears immediately.
Record keeping, maintain inspection and maintenance records as require by company or legal standards.
Coordination with certified repairers send damage sling or lifting gears to approved vendors for testing or repair.
Compliance with standards, follow applicable standards (OSHA, ISO, BS, ASME, LOLER, or Local Regulation).Health and Safety ManagementDeliver own prescribed outcomes and / or provide support services, by applying Newmont’s Health, Safety and Environment systems, policies and protocols.
Inspect the equipment to check and identify any basic risks.
Attend daily morning safety meetings.Your Training, Skills & Experience ChecklistFormal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):Crane Rigger certification/licenses.
MINCOM Rigger certificate of competence advantageous.Additional KnowledgeKnowledge of maintenance principles and industry standards.
Knowledge of the work management process.
Knowledge of crane operation and rigging standards.ExperienceMinimum of 4 years’ crane operation experience in a mining plant or similar environment.Technical SkillsProblem-solving skills.
Communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
Crane calibration for correct lifting with load cell.
Operation of crawler and RBT’s crane for lifting of heavy equipment.
Operation of overhead hoist for lifting heavy equipment around mill area, for e.g. motors, pinions, gearboxes.Behavioral AttributesReliable.
