Job Description – Perioperative Nurse with Midwifery Assistance
Reports To: Matron
Location: Obaatan Pa Women’s Hospital, East Legon
Job Type: Full-Time
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Perioperative Nurse who will also provide Midwifery Assistance in our healthcare facility. The ideal candidate should have relevant experience in perioperative nursing and be ready to deliver high-quality patient care within both the theatre and maternity ward settings.Key Responsibilities:
Perioperative Nursing:1. Provide comprehensive care to patients during the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases.
2. Prepare the operating room and surgical instruments prior to procedures.
3. Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during operations by anticipating needs and providing appropriate instruments and supplies.
4. Monitor patient vitals and respond to any changes or complications during surgery.
5. Maintain a sterile environment and follow infection control protocols at all times.
6. Educate patients and families on pre- and post-operative care, recovery, and discharge instructions.
7. Document all aspects of patient care accurately and in a timely manner.
8. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care plans and ensure effective communication.Midwifery Assistance:1. Assist midwives in providing care to pregnant women, new mothers, and newborns.
2. Support midwives during deliveries, providing hands-on care as needed.
3. Conduct routine checks on mothers and newborns, identifying any potential complications.
4. Provide education and support to new mothers on breastfeeding, newborn care, and postpartum recovery.Requirements:1. Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
2. Experience in perioperative nursing and assistance in maternity nursing.
3. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments.Preferred Qualifications:1. Perioperative Nurse certification.
2. Experience in labour and delivery.
3. Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) experience.
