- Assists with all banking activities, including withdrawals, deposits and preparation of all documents, online banking and financial checks which must be approved by the Operations & Finance Director;
- Assists with input of all financial transactions into the project accounting software (ABACUS) and monthly reconciliation of all assets and liabilities, including bank, accounts receivables and payable balances
- Ensure thorough validation and reliability of all invoices, receipts, and vouchers;
- Support preparation of monthly wire transfer requests;
- When requested by the Operations & Finance Director, assists with the preparation of project monthly staff payroll - ensure correct calculation, deduction and filling of staff income tax (PAYE), employer and employee social security contributions and any other taxes that may be necessary at any given time.
- Helps maintain project financial records in accordance with USAID rules and regulations and Chemonics policy;
- Assists the Operations & Finance Director with VAT exemption requests;
- Has a good knowledge and understanding of all rules and procedures stipulated by the Chemonics Field Accounting and Compliance Manual and Policy Manual;
- Ensure all financial documentation/backups are appropriately filed, both in soft and hard.
- Facilitate and ensure completeness of monthly close procedures
- Processing employee expense reports, verifying expenses are within Chemonics rules and regulations;
- Assist in annual project audit

- At least two ( 3) years of relevant experience working in a related role;
- First degree in accounting or similar field required;
- Experience working with NGOs or donors such as USAID preferred.
- Candidate must have prior experience with Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Should be familiar with USAID regulations and procedures, particularly as related to accounting and financial management.
- Previous experience in either internal or external Audit
- Knowledge and proven application of the Ghana financial and tax regulations
- Very detailed minded
- Good and effective team player
- Professional competency in English required.
