Job DescriptionRole DetailsThe Engineering – Project department of Tarkwa Gold Mine seeks to employ an experienced individual to fill a Junior Cost Accountant position on a two-year fixed term contract through a third-party contractor.Reporting to the Unit Manager - Engineering Projects, the successful candidate will manage cost and apply variance analysis and budgetary control principles in managing the HME Infrastructure relocation Project cost to ensure spend is within budget limits.About the role:
  • Prepare and coordinate all project budgets and the master budget for the Tarkwa Mine Infrastructure Relocation Project.
  • Interpret contractual clauses/rates in contracts and apply them in reviewing bills of quantities and related invoices.
  • Apply relevant tax laws in treatment of various business transactions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reconciliation of all projects cost.
  • Liaise with sectional supervisors for accurate and timeous dissemination of projects cost and other relevant information.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly cost reports and trends analysis
  • Ensure compliance with SOX frameworks.
  • Maintain a safe and friendly environment to ensure effective engineering standards and procedures are developed and implemented in compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements.
About you:
  • BSc Accounting /Finance or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years working experience in similar position.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and numerical skills, plus extensive knowledge in SAP.
  • Good understanding of mining process value chain, accounting standards and risk management.
  • Excellent knowledge and application of SOX framework in financial management.
  • Good commercial acumen and demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Medical fitness for the position and environment.
  • Must possess a valid Ghanaian drivers' licence.
