Key Responsibilities:1. Patient Assessment- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' ocular health and medical history.- Perform preliminary eye examinations, including visual acuity testing, history-taking, and basic ocular assessments.2. Patient Care- Provide direct nursing care to patients undergoing ophthalmic procedures.- Administer prescribed medications and treatments, including eye drops and topical anesthetics.- Monitor patients’ conditions before, during, and after procedures.3. Assisting in Procedures:- Assist ophthalmologists and optometrists during diagnostic tests and surgical procedures.- Prepare and maintain sterile environments, ensuring proper use of instruments and equipment.4. Patient Education:- Educate patients and their families on eye health, post-operative care, and disease management.- Address patients' concerns and provide emotional support as needed.5. Documentation:- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including assessment findings, treatment plans, and progress notes.- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.6. Infection Control and Safety- Adhere to infection control protocols and safety guidelines to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.7. Continuing Education:- Stay current with best practices in ophthalmic nursing and participate in professional development opportunities.- Attend workshops, conferences, and training sessions as required.
