CLOSING DATE : 28TH APRIL, 2025ROLE PURPOSEThe Metallurgical Trainer is accountable for providing training and coaching to the employees in the Processing Department. As part of ongoing personal development, this role actively identifies training requirements, both technical and legal, to improve the skills of the department team members and therefore contribute to the performance and efficiency of the department. He / she must identify training gaps and develop and deliver training materials such that the identified gaps are mitigated. He / she must actively pursue and maintain a values-oriented approach within sphere of influence inside the plant.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Assess risks (safety, health, and environment) for all tasks and incorporate into Standard Operating Procedures to ensure tasks are executed safely
- Report all incidents and ensure they have been investigated and corrective actions completed on time.
- Adhere to site's Environmental Management Plan.
- Accept personal responsibility for his/her own health and safety and that of every mine worker affected by his/her work.
- Conduct training needs assessment by collecting information pertaining to work procedures, workflow, and reports, understanding job-specific functions and tasks.
- Coordinate the participation of processing employees in mine-wide training programs.
- Design computer-based training manuals by identifying and describing information needs; using desktop publishing; submitting initial versions for review; revising and editing final copy.
- Align the training needs of staff with expected KPIs and IDPs for improved productivity.
- Conduct training classes by presenting job-specific, company-specific, and generic classes.
- Evaluation of training by evaluating the effectiveness of training.
- Aid the plant management for the development of strategic career paths and succession planning for employees.
- Develop performance management setpoints and targets for your subordinates.
- Facilitate multi-skilling of operating staff in conjunction with the operations team leadership as a means to improving operator effectiveness and mobility across sections of the plant.
- Maintaining discipline and performance management
- Constant assessment and challenging of the status quo to identify and align staff to optimal performance.
- Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards
- Minimum of tertiary qualification in either Extractive Metallurgy or teaching fields
- Preferably 10 years in a processing plant
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience in a role similar would be advantageous.
- Experience and understanding of total mining cycle
- Demonstrable intermediate level knowledge of metallurgical processes such as, but not limited to, size reduction, flotation, leaching, desorption, and tailings disposal.
