
Senior Emergency Response Team Technician - Cardinal Namdini Mining

- Assist in providing an effective response to the CNML Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan, including but not limited to high-risk activities like working at heights, confined space entry, handling hazardous chemicals (i.e. transfer of cyanide), firefighting, injuries, water rescue and recoveries.
- Support with conducting ERT equipment inspections to identify any potential defects or malfunctions and assist with maintaining and calibrating any ERT equipment that may need to be serviced.
- Ensure all emergency response equipment is maintained ready for operational use, including fire extinguisher system inspections as directed by the ERT Coordinator
- Participate in regular drills to reinforce training activities.
- Assist in identifying, reporting, and controlling safety, environment, and community hazards.
- Run all rescue and recovery activities relating to both individuals and property by responding to emergency calls from the Security Control Centre (SCC) promptly.
- Participate in cyanide sparging activities to ensure the safe delivery of cyanide to the mine site and the avoidance of hazardous material disposal and its impact on the environment.
- Support in providing emergency stand-by duties for bullion transfer in relation to the transfer of gold bullion via helicopter.
- Provide support in conducting drug and alcohol tests on-site by filling in the results from the tests on the designated form and submitting the completed form to HR for review.
- Attend to any other task as assigned by the ERT Coordinator.
- Retired/former firefighter, preferably from Ghana National Fire Service
- SHS certificate or equivalent, first aid or medical support qualifications
- Competency in driving and operating fire trucks.
- A sound knowledge of emergency operating procedures and practices
- A minimum of 3 – 5 years’ working experience in an Emergency Response capacity
- Knowledge (In-depth)
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Must be capable of reading and writing in English and must possess basic arithmetic skills.
- Ability to operate mechanical (hydraulic) tools and test equipment.
- Sound computer literacy skills – MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Must possess a valid category ‘D’ Ghanaian Driver’s License and competent in driving category ‘D’ vehicles.
- Ability to control demeanour and act confidently in challenging and emergency situations.
- Ability to work effectively within a team
- Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
