- The Anti-Money Laundering Coordinator report directly to the Anti-Money Laundering Reporting Officer (AMLRO) and will support to maintain compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), and Counter-Proliferation Financing (CPF) regulatory requirements, as well as other and laws and directives in line with Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) guidelines, Financial laws, Bank of Ghana directives and global best practices.
- Support in the development and implementation of AML/CFT &P frameworks, policies and procedures in compliance with AML/CFT laws, regulations, and directives (BoG, FIC, Act 1044, FATF standards).
- Assist in the implementation of institution-wide compliance and anti-money laundering frameworks, policies and procedures
- Oversee Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) processes
- Monitor high-risk customers, politically exposed persons (PEPs), and unusual transaction patterns.
- Identify, investigate and submit suspicious transaction reports (STRs) and suspicious activity reports (SARs) to the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) in a timely manner.
- Maintain proper records of investigations and reports.
- Respond to AML/CFT compliance queries from FIC and Bank of Ghana.
- Submit regular timely reports to the FIC and/or Bank of Ghana as required
- Maintain all compliance and AML-related registers (Compliance Universe, PEPs, Sanctions, STR/SAR registers).
- Develop and maintain the AML/CFT risk assessment framework for customers, products and services, delivery channels and vendors/suppliers.
- Conduct periodic internal assessments of AML/CFT control mechanisms to ensure their continued relevance and effectiveness
- Track and close AML-related audit and regulatory findings.
- Support in the training for all staff on existing and any new compliance /AML laws and directives.
- Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting findings, trends, and recommendations for action.
- Establish a safeguarding culture across all levels of the programme by implementing the safeguarding policy.
- Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
- Responsible to ensure team members are appropriately trained, supported and have access to resources regarding issues that are identified and actioned in accordance with the safeguarding policy and procedure.
- Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
- At least First Degree
- Concentration / Major: Finance, Risk Management, Economics, Banking, Business administration, Accounting or Law
- Minimum 2 years of experience in banking operations.
- Strong understanding of retail operations, banking processes, products, and regulations.
- Familiarity with AML regulations and compliance frameworks.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
- High level of Integrity and commitment to ethical standards and confidentiality.
- Enthusiastic, proactive, confident and able to work independently.
- Good reporting, writing and communication skills.
- Highly organized and able to work under pressure to specific deadline
- A collaborative spirit, willing to share knowledge and support team initiatives
- Adaptability to changing regulations and compliance requirements.
