Key Responsibilities:Preoperative Care- Assess and prepare patients for surgry, including reviewing medical history and performing physical assessments.- Educate patients and their families about the procedure, anesthesia, and postoperative care.- Ensure all necessary preoperative tests and documentation are completed.- Intraoperative Care- Assist the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and other items as needed.- Maintain a sterile environment by adhering to protocols, including proper use of aseptic techniques.- Monitor the patient’s vital signs and overall condition during surgery and communicate any concerns to the surgical team.- Document procedures, patient status, and any complications or anomalies encountered during surgery.Postoperative Care- Provide immediate post-operative care to patients, monitoring their recovery and managing pain control.- Educate patients and families on postoperative care, including wound care and signs of complications.- Ensure proper handover of patient care to recovery room staff.- Collaboration and Teamwork- Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.- Participate in surgical team briefings and debriefings to discuss cases and improve practices.- Regulatory Compliance- Adhere to infection control practices and maintain equipment and sterile supplies in accordance with hospital protocols.- Stay updated with current standards, codes, and regulations relevant to surgical nursing and participate in continuous professional development.
