The mining team is currently seeking to employ an experienced, competent and self-motivated Engineer who will independently manage the slope monitoring machines to prevent any loss of life or damage to equipment. The applicant is expected to also lead the Geotechnical assistants to identify and mitigate geotechnical risks and their associated hazards within the Damang Pit Cutback (DPCB) and other future pits.Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out Window and scanline mapping of exposed slope and perform kinematic analysis of the dataGeotechnical and structural logging of core samples to improve the structural data for the DPCBEffectively analyze and interpret slope monitoring data in line with the Trigger Alarm Response Plan (TARP) of Abosso GoldfieldsGeneration of geotechnical hazard plans for all open pitsPresentation of hazard conditions of all open pits to working personnelMaintaining geotechnical equipment and ensuring their effectivenessDaily pit inspection of pit walls and berms for signs of slope instability for remedial actions to be takenSupervising the drilling and installation of sub-horizontal depressurization holes, dewatering boreholes and piezometersWorking with other technical staff within the mining department to support mining production activitiesKey RequirementsA tertiary qualification in Geological and Mining EngineeringGeotechnical experience in open-pit mining combined with an in-depth knowledge of ground control using SSR-FX slope monitoring systemsShould be able to use Rocscience tools (dips, Swedge Software, slide, and slide 3D) for geotechnical analysisWell-developed oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact with people from diverse cultures and backgroundsA result-oriented attitude and commitment to safetyAt least 2 years’ working experience in Earth EngineeringMedical fitness for the position and environment
