Through our flagship initiative — the Sikafields Carbon Project — we work to reduce carbon footprints, enhance environmental stewardship, and drive climate action with innovative technology.[ad]Role OverviewThe Carbon Development Specialist will lead GIS and remote sensing work within the Sikafields Carbon Project, supporting carbon monitoring, reporting, and verification. The role focuses on turning spatial data into actionable insights that strengthen carbon sequestration and emission reduction strategies.
This role involves occasional field travel to project sites for data collection, validation, and stakeholder engagement.Key Duties
  • Develop and manage GIS databases and remote sensing data for carbon monitoring.
  • Analyse land cover, forest health, and carbon sequestration potential.
  • Estimate carbon stocks and project impacts using GIS and remote sensing.
  • Manage datasets, ensure accuracy, and create visual reports/dashboards.
  • Collaborate with teams, partners, and communities to integrate GIS into project work.
  • Support carbon accounting in line with international standards (e.g., Verra, Gold Standard).
  • Prepare clear reports, maps, and presentations to share results.
  • Keep up to date with new GIS, remote sensing, and carbon monitoring tools.
Required Skills or ExperienceQualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in GIS, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, Geography, or related field.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in GIS/remote sensing, ideally in carbon or environmental projects.
  • Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and remote sensing platforms.
  • Knowledge of carbon accounting standards (e.g., Verra, Gold Standard) is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with diverse stakeholders.
