This role involves occasional field travel to project sites for data collection, validation, and stakeholder engagement.Key Duties
- Develop and manage GIS databases and remote sensing data for carbon monitoring.
- Analyse land cover, forest health, and carbon sequestration potential.
- Estimate carbon stocks and project impacts using GIS and remote sensing.
- Manage datasets, ensure accuracy, and create visual reports/dashboards.
- Collaborate with teams, partners, and communities to integrate GIS into project work.
- Support carbon accounting in line with international standards (e.g., Verra, Gold Standard).
- Prepare clear reports, maps, and presentations to share results.
- Keep up to date with new GIS, remote sensing, and carbon monitoring tools.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in GIS, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, Geography, or related field.
- 3–5 years’ experience in GIS/remote sensing, ideally in carbon or environmental projects.
- Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and remote sensing platforms.
- Knowledge of carbon accounting standards (e.g., Verra, Gold Standard) is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
- Ability to work well with diverse stakeholders.
- Problem-solver with practical, data-driven solutions.
