- The purpose of this role is to implement and improve a commercial framework to translate mine plans and budgets into operational plans in an annual, quarterly, and monthly basis.
- Assess risks for all tasks and ensure they are controlled before and during task execution.
- Report all incidents and ensure they have been investigated and corrective actions completed on time.
- Act on all corrective actions assigned to you or under your jurisdiction and ensure timely completion
- Investigate all environmental incidents in assigned work areas and prepare reports with recommendations for the Departmental Manager for onward submission to the Environmental Manager or his representative
- Establish the necessary Contracts processes and practices for the redevelopment of the Obuasi Mine, including Operational Readiness
- Provide unequivocal Contracts planning data to enable the quarterly updates of the rolling 18-month plan to be produced on time.
- Develop the annual Contracts cost centre budget to achieve the required targets for achieving annual, medium term and life of mine (LoM) business plans
- Deliver the work of the Contracts function within approved budget targets and specified timeframes, costs and related KPIs
- Recommend and optimise the approach for conducting specialist projects and research in the Contracts process and procedures
- Establish a network of targeted stakeholder relationships to socialises initiatives and enhancements
- Report on the development and progress of initiatives and enhancements of the Contracts function, to include outputs and befits obtained.
- Describe the specific problems and constraints to be managed within the Contracts function
- Present solutions to specific problems with defined resolution methodologies and resources to deliver improved performance in processes and procedures
- Monitor and report on the outcomes and standards of work from direct reports or field personnel and contractors
- Rigorously drive implementation of projects and nurture and sustain a culture of Accountability and Continuous Improvement within Contracts team
- BSc Mining or equivalent Engineering degree (Civil, Mechanical / Electrical).
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in mining operations.
- Experience in contract management in a mining or construction environment is preferable.
- Preferably owner’s team, multi-disciplined, design, construction and commissioning experience, with contractor management experience, within a large blue-chip mining or resources environment.
- Strong knowledge in contract management practices and demonstrate ability in managing operational mining contracts.
- Understand AGA project management standards or other standards and has applied knowledge in similar projects
- Understand key underground mining processes and practices and has demonstrated the ability to apply it in optimising cost and general performance
- Able to use the knowledge to track and monitor Contractor’s cost.
