- Ensure timely validation and interpretation of geotechnical data, through ongoing data collection as well as evaluation, maintaining and being up-to-date on the geotechnical database and model
- Design, maintain and upgrade the site geotechnical monitoring systems and develop the monitoring database
- Carry out stability analysis of excavations and analysis of designs through kinematics, empirical and numerical techniques under the auspices of the Lead Geotechnical Engineer
- Complete monthly and ad hoc reports on data gathering, evaluation, designs and monitoring
- Coordinate the use of consultants for geotechnical design. Review and manage geotechnical contractors on-site
- Ensure that the engineering staff achieve the best practice with respect to excavation control
- Update procedures and hazard plans to identify and develop work practices and methods that reduce the risk of injury, decrease costs and improve productivity
- A BSc. in Geological Engineering from a recognised Tertiary institution
- Geotechnical experience in open-pit mining combined with an in-depth knowledge of ground control using SSR-FX slope monitoring systems
- Should be able to use Rocscience tools (dips, Swedge Software, slide, and slide 3D) for geotechnical analysis
- At least 2 years’ experience in the geotechnical aspects of open pit mining; preferably hard rock mines
- Very good analytical, planning and prioritising skills combined with the ability to utilise the knowledge gained.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills in English and an ability to relate to people of diverse cultures and levels
- Medical fitness for the position and environment
- A valid Ghanaian driver’s license and proficiency in driving a light vehicle
