- Supervise asset management activities to ensure optimal performance and compliance with standards.
- Supervise and coordinate maintenance of support equipment to ensure that operational and production plans are realized.
- Lead and support mechanics and electricians in the delivery of maintenance work to ensure that specifications are met, and objectives are achieved in a safe, effective and efficient manner.
- Ensure team members are compliant with systems, processes and regulatory standards.
- Responsible for assessing relevant risks, identifying and executing mitigation measures, and continuously monitoring for residual or emerging risks.
- Accept personal responsibility for the health and safety of every employee under or assigned to his/her supervision.
- Conduct daily safety meetings and workshop / work areas inspections and provide feedback.
- Facilitate preparation and review of various work related permits for approval.
- Assist in development of plans and budgets for Asset Management.
- Coordinate Asset Management programs and assist in cost control.
- Ensure compliance with Management systems that facilitate safe and efficient operations in alignment with Newmont's vision & values.
- Assist with resolving Asset Management priorities in conformance with short-term and long-term production goals.
- Assess data to apply asset utilization and cost-effectiveness initiatives.
- Provide reports on asset running performance to the General Foreperson.
- Ensure quality assurance / quality control (QA/QC) and continuous improvement initiatives are delivered.
- Assist in the implementation of auxiliary equipment and light vehicle maintenance plans to ensure maximum availability of auxiliary equipment and light vehicles at optimum cost.
- Oversee auxiliary equipment and light vehicle maintenance work in all mining areas.
- Provide technical support when major works are carried on any of the equipment / vehicles.
- Oversee condition monitoring, defect identification, backlog generation / management and monitoring systems as well as quality improvement monitoring.
- Provide effective on-the-job training and coaching to ensure skills improvements of employees so that they achieve their maximum potential.
- Provide hands-on assistance during operations activities and ensure adherence to safe work practices.
- Produce various reports (Job progress reports, incident reports) and submit the report to the General Foreperson.
- Attend monthly safety inspection and meetings.
- Supervise allocated staff member(s) by:
- Providing on-the-job training, mentoring and coaching.
- Performing the first level of performance appraisal.
- Recommending further / relevant training courses and development actions.
- Taking appropriate actions to address under-performance.
- Enhancing communication with staff through regular feedback, contact, meetings and briefings, etc.
- Degree or HND in Mechanical / Electrical engineering or Engineering Technician III or relevant trade disciplines.
- Knowledge of relevant statutory legislation and regulations.
- MINCOM certification as Sectional Engineer (Minimum Requirement).
- Relevant experience in Asset Management within the extractive or process industry.
- Possesses valid Ghanaian driving license class C or CE.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in mechanical / electrical maintenance or similar environment
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a supervisory role.
- Advanced knowledge of maintenance principles and standards for auxiliary equipment and light vehicles.
- Advanced knowledge of maintenance principles and industry standards.
- Advanced knowledge of the work management process.
- Advanced knowledge of planning and scheduling.
- Completes concrete procedural tasks.
- Follows procedural steps to complete work.
- Uses practical judgment to overcome problems, or requests assistance.
- Sees alternatives based on trial & error.
- Improves working methods using day-to-day experiences, procedures, observations of pattern of events, and trial and error.
- Understands and able to apply basic problem-solving methodologies.
- Asset management principles and programs, Risk Management, Report writing, QA/QC Processes, ability to deliver continuous improvement initiatives, Data analysis and interpretation, Contractor / vendor management.
- Work management process and planning.
- Demonstrated competency in Hydraulic and Electrical Systems schematics and troubleshooting.
