Our experienced team members are our most precious asset, having discovered, explored and developed more than 24Moz of gold resources and reserves in Ghana; and having managed Ghana's largest underground mine.About This RoleThis role will be responsible for providing effective emergency response and rescue services for both underground and surface operations, ensuring worker safety, rapid emergency response and regulatory compliance.Key Responsibilities
  • Respond promptly to underground and surface emergencies, including fires, gas incidents and structural failures.
  • Plan and execute mine rescue operations using approved equipment and safety procedures.
  • Inspect, maintain, and ensure readiness of rescue equipment, breathing apparatus and communication systems.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of emergency response plans and SOPs.
  • Work with operational and safety teams to identify hazards and implement preventive controls.
  • Participate in the development and continuous improvement of emergency response plans, rescue protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • Accurately document drills, incidents and rescue operations and maintain required records.
  • Train and mentor mine personnel on emergency response and hazard identification.
  • Collaborate with operational and safety teams to identify potential hazards and implement preventive measures.
  • Participate in incident investigations and post‑incident reviews to improve response effectiveness.
  • Maintain required physical fitness and technical competence for rescue operations.
  • Comply fully with Asante Gold Bibiani Ltd HSE standards and promote continuous improvement.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Education, Work Experience & Key Competencies
  • Must have a professional certification in Mine Rescue, Advanced First Aid, Paramedicine or a related emergency response discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in mine rescue operations.
  • Must possess a valid Minerals Commission Certificate of Competency.
  • Must hold a valid Ghanaian Class B or Class C driver's license.
  • Demonstrated competence in the operation, inspection and maintenance of mine rescue equipment.
  • Ability to conduct emergency drills, rescue simulations and hazard identification exercises.
  • Good understanding of underground mine ventilation systems, gas detection and risk control measures.
  • Excellent physical fitness, endurance and mental resilience.
  • Strong teamwork, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills under pressure.
  • High attention to detail, reliability, and a proactive approach to safety.
  • Demonstrates high ethical standards and a strong commitment to safety.
  • Proven safety awareness and safety conscious behavior.
