Director/ Finance at Simon Diedong Dombo University

• The Director of Finance is the head of the Directorate of Finance of the University and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the general administration of the Directorate, financial strategy and management of the finances of the University and for maintaining the integrity of the finances of the University.

• Keep proper records of the University in accordance with the Public and Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921) and other relevant laws.
• Prepare budgets for each financial year for presentation to the Council through the Vice-Chancellor.
• Advise the Vice-Chancellor and other officers of the University on matters relating to accounts and funds of the University.
• Invest University funds as directed by the Council or Vice-Chancellor, as the case may be.
• Perform other functions relating to accounting, financial and treasury services as may be prescribed by the Council, Vice-Chancellor or Academic Board.
• Head the Directorate of Finance of the University and be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the general administration of the Directorate.
• Monthly reconciliation of Bank and General Ledger Balances
• Managing the treasury function and developing cash flow forecast schedules;
• Managing Student Accounts, Non-Current Assets, Accounts Payable and Receivables;
• Liaising between the Finance Directorate and Internal and External Auditors.
• Discharging any other duties as outlined in the University's Financial Regulations and Governance Policy or assigned by the Vice-Chancellor.

• Shall be a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ghana), possess a post-graduate degree in the relevant area and have had, at least, twelve years post-qualification experience as professional accountant.
• Good working knowledge of accounting software with a strong Financial Accounting background as a Financial Controller or equivalent;
• In depth working knowledge in the consolidation of Financial Statements, intra-company transactions and segment reporting.
• Considerable strategic, interpersonal and collegial skills that will enable the Director function effectively within the Higher Education Sector
• Good business sense with a deep understanding and appreciation of the strategic and operational issues in top-level university management and administration or a complex institution;
• High-level analytical skills and ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders whiles showing leadership and competency;
• A very good understanding of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), the PFM Regulation, 2019 (LI 2378) and risk management;
• Experience with the conception, development, and deployment of internal control systems;
• Experience in Treasury management;
• Experience with International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) and/or the IFRS with a fully compliant entity;
• Considerable strategic, interpersonal and collegial skills with demonstrated strength in ethics and professional integrity.
• Be disciplined and demonstrate adherence to University regulations as a statutory body and MUST NOT have conducted himself/herself in a manner that has brought the name of the University into disrepute;
• A successful candidate should NOTE that he/she can be reassigned to perform any other job role to serve their unexpired term if the appointing authority deems it necessary in the interest of the University;
