- To design and implement forward-looking HR strategies and to ensure delivery of strategic and operational business plans in the company
- To facilitate change programs throughout the company to develop the right culture and management style geared toward achieving the company's vision and mission
- Responsible for the day-to-day general administration of the department
- Manage human resource operations by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching and counseling staff
- Advise on human resource strategies, policies and practices to ensure that the company has the right quality, well-motivated and committed workforce it needs
- Contribute to the strategic planning process in the company and continuously ensure alignment of HR initiatives to key business drivers
- Regularly review the company's structures, manning levels and competencies to ensure they support the current and future business requirements and ensure effective succession planning and career development
- Ensure the existence of job descriptions for all positions and update regularly
- Prepare employees for assignments by establishing and conducting orientation programs
- Supervise the collation of inputs for the formulation of HR policies and procedures
- Manage the operational processes to ensure compliance with the relevant laws and management systems
- Coordinate all processes linked to the company's performance management system to create the desired performance culture in the business and reward employees for their contribution to business success
- Help develop and implement competitive compensation and benefit schemes to attract and retain top talents, ensure equity, drive high performance culture and thus give the business a competitive advantage in the marketplace
- Provide specialist advice and support to Heads of Dept/Area/Branch Managers
- Consult and assist in negotiations with trade unions and employee representatives to ensure compliance with employment practices and legislations
- Create a positive and productive industrial relations climate in the company, and thus develop a culture of partnership with unions and external organizations
- Ensure the effective implementation of disciplinary processes
- Supervise the implementation of training, learning and development policies
- Supervise the preparation and submission of periodic reports of the department
- Facilitate change initiatives and build commitment to implement changes to improve business performance
- Ensure the preparation of the budget for the department
- Effectively manage leave administration to ensure leave days of staff are exhausted by end of year
- Celebrate staff anniversaries and look for opportunities to celebrate staff success
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date Human Resource information systems (HRIS) to ensure staff records are accurate to aide speedy and reliable decision-making
- Supervise and appraise the performance of immediate subordinates through the company's performance management system
- Perform any other tasks/duties that may be assigned by management
- A good first Degree / Master's Degree preferably in HR, Social Science, Business Administration or a related field from a reputable university
- A chartered HR Practitioner
- A minimum of 8 years post-qualification relevant work experience, 4 of which must be in a senior management level
- Must be on the grade of at least Senior Manager at the time of application
- Good strategic planning and evaluation skills
- Extensive knowledge in labour laws and regulations
- Excellent knowledge in administrative procedures
- Good interpersonal skills
- Good knowledge in conflict management
- Good report writing skills
- Ability to inspire and motivate
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite or related software
