Electrical Maintenance Officer at Sahara Group

- To ensure safe and efficient operation of all electrical systems at the LPG tank farm in Ghana. This includes electrical panels, generators, gas detection systems, and metering/instrumentation, ensuring compliance with Ghana's Energy Commission, EPA Ghana, and OSHA-equivalent standards.
- Implement preventive maintenance schedules for electrical panels, generators, gas detection systems, lighting, cooling systems, and electrical parts of pumps/compressors.
- Carry out inspections of cabling, grounding, and protective devices to avoid electrical hazards.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in electrical equipment and control systems.
- Repair/replace defective components to restore safe operations with minimal downtime.
- Monitor performance of electrical systems to ensure compliance with LPG safety standards.
- Ensure uninterrupted operation of gas detectors, alarm systems, and control panels.
- Maintain logs of electrical performance and energy use.
- Prepare regular reports (daily/weekly/monthly/annual) on electrical systems.
- Supervise contractors/vendors for electrical works and ensure compliance with safety and LPG regulations.
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports on depot equipment to Management/Stakeholders.
- To superintend over depot electrical/panel setup, cooling system, pumps, tanks, piping and ancillaries, metering systems (electrical and process fluid), power generator and general facility works. Hands-on ability in maintaining/resolving technical issues is key.
- Carry out work appraisal, costing, vendor nomination, approval justification, supervision of work execution as per approved quality and volume.
- Carry out daily/weekly/monthly/bi-annual/annual equipment inspection and ensure overall equipment breakdown maintenance cost reduction through an effective in-house/outsourced preventive maintenance practice.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to support delivery of company business goals.
- Education: Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: 3-5 years in LPG/Oil & Gas electrical maintenance in Ghana or West Africa
- Certifications: Certification in Electrical Installation (ECG/Energy Commission Ghana license), HSE, or hazardous area installations (ATEX/IECEx) is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, especially as they relate to LPG tank farms.
- Hands-on experience with pumps, compressors, pipelines, valves, and gas storage systems.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance in the oil & gas industry.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency with maintenance management software and basic IT tools.
- Demonstrate high work flexibility to support other team members.
- Demonstrate ability to work under pressure to deliver with team and alone.
- Must have good communication/interpersonal skills, and the right attitude to work.
- Must be teachable and show adaptability to new technologies/procedures.
- Demonstrate character of respect for leadership and colleagues, while showing confidence/honesty.
- Attentive to details, a good sense of judgement and must be hands-on in addition to theoretical knowledge
