Our experienced team members are our most precious asset, having discovered, explored and developed more than 24Moz of gold resources and reserves in Ghana; and having managed Ghana’s largest underground mine.About This RoleFormulate and execute electrical maintenance strategies that ensures the continuous growth of the functional activities to maximize operational efficiencies, safety, and profitability that aligns with the organization’s overall goal.Key Responsibilities
  • Actively work in the fields and ensure relevant Safety, Mining and other Statutory Codes and Regulations remain in full compliance, ensures safety at each workplace.
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Connect power supply wires to machines and equipment and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Perform periodic and scheduled inspection programmes to maintain Underground assets and infrastructure according to established mine maintenance and engineering standards.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and components.
  • Report all accidents, unsafe positions, defected equipment, and safety complaints from your section to the HSE representative and participate in Root Cause Analysis of failures when required
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
[ad2]Education, Work Experience & Key Competencies
  • Bachelor’s Degree /Higher National Diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution
  • Minimum of five (5) years' working experience in a mining maintenance field or related environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of site safety, health and environmental regulations pertaining to electrical maintenance in a mining environment
  • Knowledge of electrical machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Ability to distinguish colors used in colour-coding wires and electronic components.
  • Ability to prepare estimates for any Electrical works.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret standard electrical blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, parts books and service manuals (including specifications).
  • Possess adequate craft knowledge and skill to accurately estimate labor hours, material requirement and skills needed to complete a job.
  • Ability to handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously and work under pressure.
  • Has the skill of quality job execution, and able to plan jobs in coordination with colleagues and other Departments.
  • Must be able to apply standards, policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data.
  • Well-developed English oral, written communications and report writing skills.
  • Possess a valid Ghanaian Driver’s License with good defensive driving skills.
