- Define and oversee maintenance activities for all fixed cranes, rigging, and lifting equipment.
- Act as equipment class owner for cranes, forklifts, and lifting gear.
- Develop, implement, and maintain maintenance strategies, including preventative routines and written schemes of examination in CMMS.
- Ensure accuracy of work orders, spare parts, and equipment data in CMMS.
- Incorporate inspection and incident findings into CMMS to improve safety, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Define and assign inspection strategies for all lifting equipment and ensure timely execution.
- Manage third-party contracts for lifting services and equipment procurement.
- Provide technical input to tenders and contract evaluations for lifting-related services.
- Liaise with vendors to review lift plans, personnel competencies, and certifications.
- Supervise vendor execution of lifts, ensuring compliance with standards and best practices.
- Provide assurance and technical support for lifting operations, ensuring compliance with standards (ABS, API RP 2D, LOLER, ISO, etc.).
- Liaise with OIM and regulatory bodies to ensure lifting operations meet international standards.
- Provide guidance on certification and examination requirements for all lifting equipment.
- Conduct audits and inspections to verify compliance and identify improvements.
- Experience in developing and auditing lifting personnel competency frameworks (riggers, crane operators, lifting authorities).
- Demonstrated experience liaising with regulators and classification societies on lifting equipment inspections and certifications.
- Experience conducting lifting audits, risk assessments, and assurance reviews against LOLER and company lifting standards.
- Proficiency in reviewing lift engineering calculations.
- Provide technical support and oversight to Offshore Lifting Technical Authorities (OLTA) and Site Lifting Focal Points (SLFP).
- Review engineering methodology and calculations for complex lifts and engineered scaffolds.
- Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, and other departments to ensure safe, efficient execution of lifting operations.
- Support rigging teams to implement safe and effective lifting practices.
- Strictly adhere to HSE requirements in all lifting and rigging activities.
- Develop, implement, and maintain lifting, rigging, and crane operation procedures.
- Promote safe lifting practices through training, awareness, and procedural discipline.
- Participate in incident investigations, providing technical input, root cause analysis, and lessons learned.
- Prepare reports on lifting incidents and identified defects, recommending corrective actions.
- Experience leading technical response to lifting equipment failures or emergency situations offshore.
- Act as focal point for lifting engineering expertise across the asset.
- Build effective working relationships with onshore and offshore teams, vendors, and regulators.
- Mentor and provide guidance to offshore rigging and lifting teams to strengthen competence and compliance.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in rigging and lifting operations in offshore/onshore construction, maintenance, and operations.
- Proven experience as Appointed Person or Lifting Engineer with authority to approve LOLER lift plans, including complex lifts.
- Valid Competent Person qualification from a recognized industry body.
- Certifications in:
- Lifting Equipment Inspection
- Rigging Loft Management
- Managing Work at Height
- Fall Arrest, Suspension & Rescue Equipment
- Offshore certifications: BOSIET, MIST, valid Offshore Medical.
- Strong knowledge of lifting regulations, codes, and standards (ABS, API RP 2D, LOLER, ISO, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to lead safe lifting operations, manage contractors, and provide technical assurance.
- BOSIET certificate for travel offshore as required.
