- The programme “Strengthening the Ghanaian pharmaceutical sector with a focus on vaccine production” takes a holistic approach to promoting the pharmaceutical private sector with a special focus on vaccine production: (i) strengthening the governance, coordination and regulatory functions of relevant public sector actors, (ii) workforce development for the pharmaceutical and biomanufacturing industry, (iii) promoting research and development, (iv) promoting the pharmaceutical private sector
- As a Technical Advisor for skills development in the pharmaceutical sector, you mainly support the programme's intervention area 2.
- You take technical responsibility for the results-based planning, implementation and monitoring of specific activities that develop the capacities of partner institutions.
- You collaborate and coordinate on other intervention areas of the programme.
- Providing technical, strategic and organisational development advice for the establishment and operationalisation of a broad-based biomanufacturing training centre/consortium (operator model, equipment, curricula development etc.) in collaboration with the National Vaccine Institute and other stakeholders
- Supporting or coordinating other skills development activities, particularly for the private sector (e.g. vocational training, academic programmes, short courses, curricula harmonization, etc) and promoting gender equality in skills development
- Supporting career and business development for national pharmaceutical research institutions and their personnel
- Promotion of career opportunities in the pharmaceutical and biomanufacturing industry, especially for women
- Regarding above-mentioned areas, (i) coordinating technical, logistical, equipment and financial support for partner institutions, (ii) preparing analyses,
- Regarding above-mentioned areas, ensuring (i) compliance with GIZ rules and procedures and appropriate documentation of work processes and results, (ii) the preparation of procurement, monitoring and quality control of suppliers and service providers, (iii) close coordination with team members, involvement of partner institutions and liaison with other GIZ projects, the cluster as well as country and head offices, (iv) the consideration
- Postgraduate degree in natural, health or life sciences
- 5 years of professional experience, notably in private sector collaboration in health; preferably experience in the pharma sector and on vaccines
- Experiences in implementation of skills development programmes in the health/pharma/vaccine sector; experience in curricula development for the pharmaceutical industry and promoting gender equality in these areas are assets
- Strong consulting skills, including methods of developing individual and organisational capacities of partners/clients (advice, coaching, training, etc.), the ability to build trustful relationships with partners, analytical skills and the ability to develop and present ideas verbally and in writing to diverse audiences
- Competencies in results-oriented project and activity management, including planning and budgeting, progress monitoring, event management and logistics; preferably experience in managing partnerships with the private sector
- Knowledge of procedures of GIZ or another development agency are an asset
- Proficiency in ITC technologies, including MS Office suite, and digital communication
- Strong command of written and spoken English
- Dynamic, agile personality with integrity, attention to detail, strong diplomatic and communication skills and a willingness to learn
- Ability to work in a diverse team but also autonomously as well as results-oriented, to multi-task, and prioritize
