Reports To: Director, Support ServicesJob Summary: Provides technical and operational leadership to enhance artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) efficiency, safety, and compliance.Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Director, Support Services, in developing and implementing capacity-building initiatives that enhance technical expertise, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance among small-scale miners.
  • Facilitate access to essential mining infrastructure and resources, promoting efficiency and sustainability in artisanal and small-scale mining operations.
  • Work closely with the Technical Directorate to ensure miners adopt responsible sourcing practices, refining standards, and export regulations.
  • Collaborate with regulatory bodies and industry stakeholders, helping miners navigate legal frameworks and achieve formalisation.
  • Champion environmental conservation and responsible mining initiatives, supporting miners in implementing eco-friendly practices.
Qualification Required & ExperienceSkills and Qualification Requirements:
  • Master's degree in ,Mine Management, Policy, Industry Development, Mining Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science or a related field.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in mining operations, regulatory compliance, or capacity-building initiatives, with at least 4 years in a leadership role.
  • Passionate about responsible mining and industry sustainability.
  • Analytical and detail-focused in assessing mining risks and solutions.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to train and support industry stakeholders.
  • Resilient and adaptable in navigating mining sector challenges.
  • Problem-solving mindset in developing practical solutions for mining operations.
