BRIEF ON CENTRE FOR DISABILITY STUDIES AND ADVOCACY (CEDSA) The establishment of the Centre for Disability Studies and Advocacy (CEDSA) was approved by the University Council in April 2022. CEDSA builds upon the existing structures and work of the University's Office of Students with Special Needs (OSSN).The Centre aims to ensure that the rights of and respect for persons with disabilities are institutionalized in the culture of the University and the society at large through high-quality research, teaching, learning and advocacy. This will be achieved through disability research, dissemination, advocacy, academic programmes and short courses/training and support services for students and staff with disabilities.OBJECTIVES OF THE CENTRE:
- Strengthen and expand the provision of support services and adequate infrastructure for students and staff with disabilities.
- Promote research, documentation, and dissemination of disability related information.
- Promote advocacy on and initiate policies on disability.
- Develop and mount mostly graduate academic programmes and short courses/training on disability.
- Make University of Ghana progressively inclusive.
- The Director will provide leadership in the setting up of the newly established Centre and ensure implementation of the objectives and activities of the Centre.
