Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, establish software systems, and lead career development to deliver accurate mine plans and financial outcomes for both underground and open pit mining.As Part Of Our Team, You WillEstablish long-term plans to align with corporate goals and maximize resource value.
Lead the alignment of 5-year and life of mine (LOM) plans, and integration activities.
Establish and monitor the alignment of LOM plan with Integrated Strategic Plan, following strategic direction.
Create mitigation strategies for identified risks and embed them into the planning process.
Drive modelling various mining options, scenarios using advanced simulation tools for the open pit and underground mines, and presentation to partners in the region.
Lead the integration of mine extension plans with current operations to ensure operational continuity.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop conceptual designs that address technical, environmental, and economic challenges.
Optimize planning granularity 5-year by increasing the level of details in scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
Drive the estimation of mineral reserves and resources annually, or as new information becomes available, and according to reporting standards. Present reserve and resource estimates to partners, regulatory bodies.
Drive the documentation and presentation of cutoff grade strategies for compliance and strategic review.
Present mine, phase designs, options, tradeoffs, and LOM schedules to team members region for approval and feedback.Your Training, Skills & Experience ChecklistFormal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):Degree qualified Mining Engineer, Advanced degree qualifications beneficial.
Recognized Competent / Qualified Person for Mineral Reserves and Mineral Resource (MRMR).Additional KnowledgeThe incumbent should have a working knowledge of open pit and / or Underground mine planning which includes design, scheduling, business planning, resource to reserve conversion and business improvement.
Operational value drivers in Underground operations.
Open pit or Underground mine design and scheduling optimization.
Mine Automation and Technologies knowledge.
Mine engineering design and scheduling, including Deswik and or MineSight software.
Knowledge of Functional Cost modeling and tools Standards compliance monitoring and reporting.
Safety in design concepts.
Lead through influence and collaboration.
Ability to communicate highly technical concepts to non-technical leadership.
Supervision and development of technical staff.
Proficiency in English required, additional language capability (Ghanaian language) an asset.ExperienceA minimum of between 15-20 years combined mine engineering and operations experience, at open pit or underground sites, including substantial experience in hard rock Gold / Copper-Gold operations.
Experience in senior mine management roles, such as Mine Technical Services or Mine Manager, including supervision of Mine Engineering professional staff and groups at owner operator mine sites
Experience communicating at a regional leadership and higher level with senior stakeholders and leadership teams.
Experienced in both bulk and selective mining methods.
Site experience with oxide Au leading and Cu/Au ore bodies.
Seasoned experience in project evaluation and Newmont’s Investment.
System at all stages from Target ID to Definitive Feasibility, with an emphasis on value and quality analysis.
Experience in performing merger and acquisition (M&A) due diligence.Technical SkillsTechnical skills in terms of design and scheduling, with expert proficiency in the field of Underground and / or Open pit.
Mine Planning concepts and procedures.
Advanced proficiency in either Underground Mine Planning or Open pit software applications.
Advanced proficiency in designing and implementing solutions to optimize value and reduce variability in mine planning.
Competent proficiency in Functional Cost modeling and application of tools.
Advanced proficiency in People Leadership, with the ability to generate stakeholder buy-in and lead through influence at a senior management level (Site and Region).
Advanced proficiency in managing time constraints, competing priorities and work prioritization, in multidisciplinary environment.
Advanced proficiency in managing the implementation of systems and processes, sub-processes, to deliver an Integrated Mine plan.
