- Coordinate and supervise maintenance of camp buildings, recreational facilities, office blocks etc.
- Perform and supervise road construction and repairs, water systems and supplies, building construction and repairs, and all civil works on the mine.
- Work with the design team to carry out modifications to structures.
- Inspects work for completeness and ensure standards according to work plan.
- Responsible for preventive and planned maintenance services.
- Control of labour and the procurement of materials for unscheduled and emergency work.
- Prepare estimates for structural upgrade works to be done in-house and by Contractors.
- Maintain effective Health and Safety systems including completion of risk assessments.
- Ensure housekeeping, productivity and quality of work standards are maintained.
- Provide Civil engineering expertise, technical support, drawings, specifications and estimates for bidding and construction, and assist in the establishment of accurate Bills of Quantity and cost estimates for all civil engineering works.
- On-site monitoring of construction and rehabilitation activities to ensure the on-going work conforms to approved designs, drawings, and the scope of work.
- Perform, demonstrate and report continuous adequate safety measures applicable while construction works progresses
- Assisting in the development of hydrologic analysis, site grading and drainage, stormwater design, erosion control plans, environmental permitting.
- Provide civil engineering design for bulk earthworks, roads, earth dams and levees
- Prepare Material Take Offs/Bill of Quantities
- Overseeing soil testing to establish soil strength and building feasibility
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution
- Minimum of 5 years' supervisory experience preferably in the mining industry.
- Well experienced in managing Civil related projects and road maintenance.
- Must be able to read and interpret Engineering drawings.
- Must be apt in Quality Control/Quality Assurance.
- Excellent communication overall and ability to assist in bids and tenders.
- Supervising contractors' works and ensure material specifications, workmanship and quality control for all works are in compliance with the contract requirement and regulations.
- Creating, updating and progressing of cost reports including benchmarking analysis, BoQ review, budget assessment, market analysis.
- Preparing Bills of Quantities, cost estimates and cost plans in line with the requirements.
- Undertaking site visits, reviewing, monitoring the progress of works and the progress payment and preparing the payment certificate accordingly
