Now's your chance.The OpportunityAs an Accountant, you will be responsible for performing the Accounting functions in support of all project activities following all relevant USAID and Abt Global policies and procedures. Under direction of the Finance and Administrative Manager, you will be responsible for recording project financial transactions, posts to appropriate projects and tasks, prepares periodic financial statements and reports, and keeps the records of the accounts books up to date.Core Responsibilities
  • Records expenditures, income, and any other related transactions, in accounting system ensuring supporting documents are compliant with Abt and USAID policies and procedures
  • Keeps a register of fixed assets and maintains an easy cross reference system of all government property.
  • Prepares the weekly Remote Office Voucher (ROV) in accordance with Abt Global procedures and policies.
  • Ensures that periodic inventory of the fixed assets (property) of the company is conducted.
  • Prepares payroll and other regular payments with consideration to deductions (for advances, loans, taxes, etc.)
  • Consolidates payment voucher for review and approval by required signatories
  • Initiates mobile money or electronic bank transactions
  • Prepares monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Checks petty cash payments and periodically reconciles petty cash balances.
  • Ensures that the books of accounts are always up to date, orderly, well kept, and readily available for reference and audit, when required.
  • Ensures all government taxes are paid on time
  • Scan payment packages and all supporting documentation daily before documents are prepared for the payments.
  • Review advances on travel expenses, travel expense reports, monitor the travel history report and track staff on outstanding advances.
  • Assists the Finance & Administration Manager in the implementation of the internal control system and financial procedures manual of the company.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the F&A Manager.
What we ValueMinimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Management, or other relevant field
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in accounting and program fiscal management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, management, business, or another relevant field
  • At least 4 years of professional experience in accounting and program fiscal management.
  • Experience working at international development programs, with experience at USAID-funded programs highly desirable.
  • A strong command of financial and other computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, QuickBooks, Access, etc.
  • Well-developed and effective organizational skills, including to ability to multi-task and work in a high-pressure environment
  • Experience in payroll management, petty cash management, financial reporting, and budget tracking.
  • Experience in inventory management is desirable.
  • At least 2 years' experience in handling mobile money payments and monthly reconciliations.
